Andalusian Companies and Their Products

The recent trade mission organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines and Extenda brought together 11 Andalusian food sector companies to Manila from March 21 to 24. The aim of the mission was to explore new business opportunities with local importers and promote the export of Andalusian food products to the Philippines.The companies represented a wide range of products which are all based in the Spanish region of Andalusia, which is known for its rich culinary tradition.

Azzayt, Rafael Salgado, Grupo Ybarra, Angel Camacho, and Echinac are among the companies that produce oils. Olive oil is one of the most important products of Andalusia, and the region is the largest producer of olive oil in the world.  Andalusian olive oil is known for its superior quality and taste due to the region’s ideal climate and soil conditions for olive tree cultivation. It is produced using traditional methods and techniques that have been passed down generations.

Tartessos and Brotherhood Quality specialize in Iberian products. Iberian ham and other cured meats are also an important part of Andalusian gastronomy. The pigs are reared in oak forests and fed acorns, giving the meat a distinctive flavor and texture. Tartessos and Brotherhood Quality are renowned for their high-quality Iberian products, which are exported to many countries worldwide.

Luxeapers, Espadafor, La Abuela Carmen, and Montealbor are among the companies that export sauces, olives, and garlic, among other products. These products are also an essential part of Andalusian cuisine and are widely used in local dishes. The companies use traditional production methods and select only the best raw materials to ensure the quality of their products.

Culinary Delights of Andalusia

Andalusian cuisine is known for its use of high-quality ingredients, traditional cooking techniques, and flavorful combinations. The participating companies were able to showcase their products to local importers and distributors during the trade mission, giving them a taste of what Andalusia has to offer.

The Trade Mission and its Events

One of the highlights of the trade mission was a cocktail party on March 22, held at the residence of the Spanish Ambassador. The event was attended by importers, distributors, and other industry stakeholders, providing a platform for networking and collaboration. The mission also included a cooking show event at Terry’s Bistro, where Chef Juan Carlos Terry, a renowned Andalusian chef, prepared dishes using products from the participating companies.

The mission concluded on March 23 with a magnificent dinner at Terry’s Bistro, attended by nearly 60 importers. The dinner went according to the theme and featured Andalusian cuisine and wines, providing importers with an opportunity to taste the products brought by the Andalusian companies. Chef Juan Carlos Terry was in charge of preparing the dinner, and his dishes were a testament to the quality of Andalusian ingredients and culinary techniques.

Success of the Trade Mission

The participating companies were able to establish new business contacts and explore the potential of the Philippine market for Andalusian food products. The mission also helped to promote Andalusian cuisine and ingredients in the Philippines, raising awareness of the region’s rich culinary heritage.

The Philippines is an attractive market for Andalusian food products, with a population of over 100 million and a growing middle class with a taste for international cuisine. The country is also home to a vibrant food and beverage industry, with a diverse range of local and international players.
